Syllavethy Gallery

The Gallery Building

Syllavethy Gallery is a converted traditional Scottish granite barn, retaining features such as the original cow byres in the Stalls Gallery. It consists of three rooms; the Entrance Gallery 18'x24' containing space for over 25 works of art (average sized paintings). The Main Gallery 18'x40' with 14' ceiling. We can accommodate over 40 paintings (average to large sizes) plus sculpture up to 12' high.. The Stalls Gallery is the ONLY private Gallery in the world to house a collection of paintings by CHEN YAN NING. It accommodates over 25 paintings and 10 sculptures. It retains all the original milking stalls, each creating a focal point for 3-4 works. WE HAVE RECENTLY PUT A NEW TONGUE AND GROOVE CEILING IN THE MAIN GALLERY AND INSULATED THE ROOM, AND THE FLOOR, TO PROVIDE US WITH A WARMER MORE AIRY LIGHT ENVIRONMENT FOR SHOWING WORK. WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT MAKES!! SEE ABOVE.

The Gallery is located in Northeast Scotland 25 miles from the city of Aberdeen and Aberdeen airport. We deal in fine art, paintings and sculpture. We represent international artists from Britain, America and China, featuring the world renowned portrait artist Chen Yan Ning. During the Millennium, we received three Royal Portrait Commissions for Chen Yan Ning to paint HM the Queen, Prince Philip, and Princess Anne, amongst many others. Other commissions include Sir Richard Branson, Anita and Gordon Roddick, and their daughters, Simon Howard of Castle Howard, (the portrait featured in a television series), Aung San Sui Kyi of Burma, portraits for Viscount Cowdray and the Hon. C.A. Pearson. Other International artists include Lawrence Broderick, a UK based sculptor, Duncan Regher a US based painter, poet and movie actor.

As well as a regular showing of new works in the gallery, we provide both life drawing classes and weekend workshops and watercolour workshops, and are hoping to expand the educational aspects of the Gallery. Please contact us for more information. Click on this link to e-mail us : MAIL US
